The Stanley Hotel

Night one- Room 428 -Feanix

stanleyhotel1014_10162011225

We arrived at the room and it was beautiful. The view was stunning, the room was huge and elegant, and the energy was amazing. It was a little warm so we decided to open the windows.

We opened the east and the south windows which were the old school weighted kind. We all peered out of the south window and then began to unpack. Juno and Crash were just walking away when the window slammed down. We all jumped and then checked the window for cracks. We called maintenance and had them come check to see why it slammed so if we wanted to open it again we would not have this issue.

Kenn arrived within minutes and checked the window, “It’s working fine and weighted properly” we all watched as he took the window up and down on the racks and it never moved unless he touched it. We never had an issue after that.

We decided to go take some pictures of the hotel and scenery and made our way downstairs. Though it was dark out, we managed to get some creepy shots of the hotel front. I was in capris and decided to go back upstairs to grab some warmer clothes. Juno had to grab something from the room as well so we made our way back.

stanleyhotel1014_10162011041We took the elevator up and then took the creepy hallway to our corridor that our room ended in. At this point I noticed three young girls coming up the staircase that exits at our room door.  The girls stared at us as we stopped mid-stride and both exclaimed “what the hell?!” after a few moments staring at the door, looking at the girls that also witnessed  the event, and trying to wrap my mind around what happened, I flung the door open thinking I was going to catch someone in the room. It was empty. about halfway  up the last flight and we were about 15-20 feet from our door. I went for the room key when I heard a click. We all looked in astonishment and complete surprise as  our locked door opened itself.

Juno and I  tried to deduce it as wind but the door was pulled shut but Crash was last out and says she is paranoid of hotel rooms and ensures that doors are shut. We tested  the door over and over and even if it was not shut properly, it would have opened well earlier than it did for us.

Promptly, we reviewed the recorder we left out and were astonished to find that there were several knocks, creeks, and stomps in the room and then you hear the  'click’ of the door and inevitably Juno and I speak. With this happening just within an hour of us arriving we could tell we were in for one interesting weekend.

Gathered the group, we explained what just took pace and around this time a group of girls showed up to see what all the commotion was. We invited them in to see  the room and tell them what happened. They let us know about their room and how funny things were happening to them as well.

We decided to do an impromptu EVP session and are currently reviewing what we have.

Night one- Room 428 -Crash

stanleyhotel1014_10162011001We got up to the room on the top floor right corner when facing the hotel front and were immediately in love.  The room was spacious and had an amazing view. Juno and I decided to take a look out of the front window to look down to where people were gathered talking and taking photos.

Juno and I just pulled our heads back from the window when it suddenly slammed down making us all jump. We inspected the window and couldn’t figure out what made it slam down, so we called for maintenance and Ken arrived within a few moments.

He checked the window for us and couldn’t figure out why it would have slammed down as everything seemed weighted fine and moved smoothly when he opened and closed it. He said, “You might have some ghosts..you ok with that?”  I said, “It’s fine as long as they don’t try to decapitate me.”

We then started realizing our belongings were ending up in each other’s bags. Feanix found the car rental agreement in her bag which had previously been in a compartment in the car, at one point Juno’s headphones disappeared and re-appeared in Feanix’s bag.

We set some things out and Chris or Feanix set up a recorder to stay in the room while we were out taking pictures and exploring.  We wandered the halls for a little bit and then headed outside to get some shots from the front of the hotel. Feanix got cold and decided to head up to the room to change and Juno went along with her. Chris and I stayed out front taking pictures and suddenly heard some excited yells from our room. We were able to make out “OUR DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF!”

A few minutes later we headed upstairs to hear the story of what happened. Our door was still open and a group of girls had heard the commotion and joined us inside. We began an EVP session. (I am still going over my recordings from that and I hope to have some good stuff.) Shadows blocking the light from the South window were seen by the rest of the group as well as the girls but I was at the wrong angle to see them.

stanleyhotel1014_10162011051Feanix and I were sitting on the large bed and could feel someone repeatedly coming right up into our faces like they were studying us.

Someone or two, also walked through me. It was a very strange feeling as my entire body was tingling and I couldn’t really respond when someone would ask me if I was ok.  I believe our door opened 2 more times during the EVP session and at least one time on camera, to the astonishment of the group of girls in the room.

That night, sleep was clearly not allowed. I was getting a half hour at a time maximum, the rest of the time I was getting woken up because someone was pacing in the room. They were pacing from the window, around the bed and standing at my side staring at me. At one point, Juno yelped and I immediately woke up and asked what was wrong. She stated something rushed up into her face and pushed her back into the bed.

I then began getting the occasional poke to my side and leg. I eventually got frustrated and sat up and said angrily, “Just back the hell off!!” I think I got an hour of sleep after that.
